Hovering at Low Altitude

Hovering At Low Altitude (2016)

Performed for the camera and live multiple times since 2010, this work is titled after a poem by Dalia Rabikovitch that laments society's indifference to the suffering of those far away hurt by war. In this work, I stand on a ladder under a tree, with white fabric hanging from one of its branches. I drape a dress from the fabric and kick the ladder to hover or hand midair until the weight of my body and the elasticity of the fabric pull me down, to an unstable ground (thorns, water, ice, etc).

Performed at Rosekill Farm, Kingston, NY, as part of 21ST SUFFRAGETTES: International Performance Art by Women, which included works by Linda Mary Montano, Martha Wilson, Annie Sprinkle & Elizabeth Stephens, Marilyn Arsem, and many more.
