Day 2- Performing Vulnerability: Sleeping With A Leopard

First day of driving was all about adjusting. To the left side wheel drive, to the long sitting hours, to observing from a distance, observing the "other" while being the "other", contemplating our fragile self proclaimed role as both guests and hosts.
Then encountering "wild" animals from the safety of our car, with an aim to capture a picture, raised some disturbing thoughts about tourism in general and the role of photography.
to summarise, for our first one-on-one performance we hosted a leopard in our bed for the night:  Sleeping Surround (Leopard)

Day 14- Poetic Claim Of Territory (Free-state, South Africa)

Roadside is a town at Free State province. It consists of a police station only. No residents. Years ago it had a post office too, but it closed down. This open gate to a burnt field is the only open gate we have seen in miles. Between the gravel road and the open gate is where we chose to locate our poetic claim of territory.
